Dyersburg TN Area Guide
Dyersburg is not only a great place to do business, but is an excellent place to live. Dyersburg HistoryThe area that would become Dyersburg was originally occupied by the Chickasaw Indians. As American interests expanded westward, seizure of Indian lands was inevitable. The Chickasaw signed a treaty with Andrew Jackson and Isaac Shelby, Governor of Kentucky, ceding their hunting ground in West Tennessee. Immigrants began to steadily stream into the newly acquired territory from Virginia and North and South Carolina. The Town of Dyersburg made from land known as McIver’s Bluff, a land grand from the State of Tennessee. The town was originally made up of 60 acres of the original 640-acre grant. Dyersburg was officially incorporated in 1850. Dyersburg Parks & Recreation The Dyersburg Parks and Recreation Department has a diversified program offering something for everyone. From sports leagues to open park space, there are numerous possibilities in Dyersburg to spend your leisure time. Rainbow Gymnastics Training Centers This privately-owned gymnastics facility offers both gymnastics and cheerleading for children ages 12 months to 18 years old.
Dyersburg EventsHistoric Downtown Each Labor Day week the Dyer County Fair draws a crowd with carnival rides, crafts, livestock, horticulture, antique exhibits and more. Boss Hoss Motorcycles Each fall, the Downtown Dyersburg Development Association and Boss Hoss Motorcycles celebrate the founding of the city of Dyersburg and the unique, homegrown Boss Hoss motorcycles. The event includes Daredevil shows, food and craft vendors, musical entertainment and kid's events.
